About SoloBusinessMind: Where Personal And Business Growth Go Together
Welcome to “SoloBusinessMind”

(Site name changed from LDCMindset to SoloBusinessMind in June 2024.)
Personal and business growth are two sides of the same coin. Strategies include: get organised, take action, learn what works, make improvements, and keep going.
Our mission is to empower people who want to make a change from whatever their current professional role is, by adding part-time or full-time ownership of their own solo business with the insights, tools, and mindset needed to thrive in today’s world.
At SoloBusinessMind, we believe that the key to successful solo entrepreneurship lies in the seamless integration of business strategies and personal development.
Meet Richard
Hello, I’m Richard, the founder of SoloBusinessMind.
My journey has been diverse, encompassing roles as a sports enthusiast, musician, writer, facilitator, and tech professional.
These varied experiences have equipped me with a unique perspective on the world of solo business.
Professional Background
My career at IBM spanned 18 years, where I gained extensive experience in business management, programming, and managing large software developments.
This period honed my skills in strategic thinking, project management, and leadership.
Since building my first website in 1998, I’ve been deeply involved in the digital world, including WordPress and affiliate marketing since 2008.
Belief in Business and Personal Development
At the core of SoloBusinessMind is the belief that business and personal development go hand-in-hand.
Personal growth fosters business success, and the challenges of running a business spur personal development.
It’s a symbiotic relationship where thriving in one area enhances the other.
This philosophy drives our content and the approach we take to helping solo entrepreneurs achieve their goals.
Writing and Expertise
With a focus on business management, productivity, coaching, and facilitation, I write in-depth articles that cover the “what,” “why,” and “how.
My aim is to provide clear, engaging, and actionable insights that readers can apply directly to their solo business ventures.
I maintain a balance between being informative and keeping the tone light, with occasional touches of humour to make learning enjoyable.
Achievements and Roles
Throughout my career, I’ve taken on various leadership roles.
Outside of my work commitments, I led a windsurfing club and a separate sailing club during the 1980s.
I was the chairman of a water sports festival in the 1990s and later directed and managed the finances of two folk festivals during the 2000s.
These roles demanded robust leadership, project management, and financial skills.
Additionally, my background as a musician and active sportsman has taught me discipline, creativity, and perseverance—qualities that are invaluable in business.

Richard
This is a very good article Richard and, although not a long post, very poignant. I took a lot of notes and smiled at the positioning of the words. Concise but direct in meaning. It’s clear what the path to success is and one only needs to follow that path. You are a good mentor and I am trying to be a good student.
Thank your for your kind words, Corinne. Appreciated! I recommend you also check out https://ldcmindset.com/become-the-best-you-can/ – Best wishes, Richard
